Distribution Model 1: Grab & Go! - Unprotected installation files can be freely distributed on CD/DVD ROM and purchased later
With the "Grab & Go!" distribution model, you can distribute your unprotected installation files FREE to potential customers. The potential customer, once acquiring the installation files from one of your distribution sources, can install the program on their computer and purchase a Vatari license key to download and install the core protected files compiled for that hardware configuration. As the installation files are unprotected, the customer can become a distributor, copying or giving the installation files to their friends/colleagues to repeat the process. Although a Vatari protected program is restricted to the computer it is installed on, your customer can copy the program (and any registry settings) to another computer (I.E. porting a hard disk image). When the customer runs the copied program, the program will prompt the customer to enter a Vatari license key (which can be purchased) and download the core protected files compiled for that hardware configuration.
Distribution Model 2: Download & Go! - Unprotected installation files are downloaded by the customer via the Internet
The "Download & Go!" distribution model is essentially the same as the "Grab & Go!" model however, the customer can download the installation files via a direct link on the distributor's website, or why not utilise, file sharing protocols, such as Bit Torrent etc (which has traditionally been used by software pirate's to distribute cracked and hacked versions of your programs, beating them at their own game) to distribute the installation files, then every customer will be a potential source of the installation files.
Distribution Model 3: Buy & Go! - Unprotected installation files are purchased by the customer at traditional outlets.
With the "Buy & Go!" distribution model, the customer purchases the unprotected CD/DVD ROM. The packaging or manual of the program will contain a pre-generated Vatari license key that the customer enters upon installation.
During installation the license key is validated and if valid, the core protected files compiled for that hardware configuration will be downloaded. If the key is invalid (I.E. Has been used on another computer etc), the customer can purchase a new license key.
Vatari, heralds a new epoch in software distribution & protection. With Vatari, you are no longer restricted to distribute your programs using traditional methods. You can distribute your programs where-ever, there are potential customers.
As new and more efficient distribution methods become available, you can be at the front of the pack, showcasing your progams to potential customers, faster and more efficiently.
